Things to Know

Some information that you may “need to know”

Where can I park at the school?

Please park either in the Church parking lot or on Robinson Street (which parallels the school parking lot). The lot behind the school is reserved for teachers.

How do I drop off/pick up my child?

There is a specific “Drop Zone” where you drop-off your child.  The “Zone” is the second gate entrance on the right, next to the school yard (near the dumpsters). Please pull your car as far forward to the dumpsters as possible before stopping to let your child out.

What stuff will my child need on Day 1?

You will receive a letter from your child’s teacher prior to the start of school (usually in August) indicating what supplies the school provides and those supplies each family must provide.

How can I get in touch with my teacher?

You can either e-mail your teacher (addresses are listed on the website “Faculty” page) or send a note in your child’s folder.

What do I do if I have a question about my child’s homework?

Prior to the start of the school year, please ask your child’s teacher what is the best way to get in touch with them if you have a question about your child’s homework. All faculty e-mails are listed on the SMS website faculty page. This is the easiest way to communicate with the teachers. However, your child’s teacher may offer another way to communicate; just ask.

Where is the “Lost and Found”?

There are two “Lost and Founds.” The first is located outside the school secretary office, opposite the nurse’s door. The second is at the After School Program (ASP) located in the Convent kitchen. To minimize losing anything, please label all of your child’s clothing and personal items their lunchbox and backpack.

Does St. Michael have a “Peanut Butter” policy?

No. However, each class establishes “food” policies based on the students’ needs, either due to allergies or dietary preferences. Please speak with your child’s teacher and notify her/him regarding any special “food” requests.

Can I come to campus anytime?

You are welcome on campus. . . our success is based on parent involvement. There are two scheduled Open Houses during the school year. Some teachers may have organized programs during the Open House. However, please first stop by the School Secretary’s office to sign the Visitor Log.

Who do I speak to if I have a concern or question?

We’re a community. . . if you have a concern or question, please speak either with your child’s teacher or the Principal.

Sponsoring Families

You are also welcome to contact a Sponsoring Family with more questions. Sponsoring Families are very willing to share their experiences at St. Michael School. Please contact the school at 860-599-1084 if you would like to get in touch with one of these families.
